If your Subcold VINO thermoelectric wine cooler is not operating or cooling as expected, follow the checks below before contacting Customer Service.

Cooling performance can be affected by the power supply, temperature setting, ventilation, room temperature, door seal, and the number of bottles inside the appliance.

Check the Power Supply

Make sure the wine cooler is receiving a reliable power supply.

Check that:

  • The appliance is securely plugged in.

  • The wall socket is switched on.

  • The socket works with another appliance.

  • The power cable is firmly connected.

  • The cable and plug are not damaged.

  • The electrical circuit is not overloaded.

Trying another suitable wall socket can help determine whether the problem is with the appliance or the original power supply.

Do not continue using the cooler if the cable, plug, or socket appears damaged or becomes unusually hot.

Check the Electronic Display

Confirm whether the electronic display is illuminated.

If the display is blank:

  1. Switch the wine cooler off.

  2. Unplug it from the mains power supply.

  3. Leave it disconnected for approximately 10 minutes.

  4. Reconnect the appliance and switch it back on.

If the display remains blank after reconnecting the cooler, there may be an issue with the power supply, adapter, control panel, or an internal electrical component.

Check the Temperature Setting

Make sure the required temperature has been selected correctly on the digital display.

After changing the setting:

  • Keep the door closed.

  • Allow the cooler several hours to stabilise.

  • Avoid assessing the temperature immediately.

  • Use pre-chilled bottles where possible.

The display may show the current internal temperature rather than the selected target temperature after the setting has been confirmed.

Allow the Temperature to Stabilise

Thermoelectric wine coolers cool gradually.

The time required to reach the selected temperature can vary depending on:

  • The room temperature

  • The number of bottles inside

  • The temperature of the bottles when loaded

  • How often the door is opened

  • The available ventilation space

  • The selected temperature

If many room-temperature bottles have been added, the cooler may need additional time to reach the required temperature.

Avoid Extreme Ambient Temperatures

Thermoelectric wine coolers are more affected by the surrounding room temperature than conventional compressor appliances.

Do not install the cooler in:

  • Very hot rooms

  • Very cold rooms

  • Garages

  • Sheds

  • Unheated outbuildings

  • Areas exposed to direct sunlight

  • Locations near radiators, ovens, or other heat sources

The appliance is designed to cool only. It does not contain a heating system.

If the room temperature falls below the selected internal temperature, the cooling system may stop operating because no further cooling is required. The appliance will not warm the contents to the selected temperature.

This is normal operation and does not necessarily indicate a fault.

Allow Adequate Ventilation

The cooler needs sufficient airflow around it so that heat can escape.

Make sure:

  • There is adequate space at both sides.

  • There is adequate space behind the appliance.

  • The ventilation openings are not blocked.

  • The cooler is not pushed tightly against a wall.

  • It is not installed inside an enclosed cupboard.

  • Nothing is resting against the rear fan or vents.

Restricted ventilation can reduce cooling performance and cause the fan to run for longer periods.

Always follow the model-specific clearance requirements in the operating manual.

Check the Door and Seal

Make sure the door closes fully and seals evenly against the cabinet.

Check that:

  • Bottles are not obstructing the door.

  • Shelves are installed correctly.

  • The seal is clean.

  • There are no visible gaps.

  • The appliance is level.

  • No packaging remains around the door.

Warm air entering through a poor seal can cause temperature fluctuations and longer cooling times.

Minimise Door Openings

Opening the door allows warm air into the cooler.

To improve performance:

  • Open the door only when necessary.

  • Avoid leaving it open while arranging bottles.

  • Make sure it closes fully after use.

  • Allow the temperature to recover after loading or rearranging bottles.

Frequent door openings can temporarily increase the displayed temperature.

Check the Appliance Is Level

The wine cooler should stand on a firm, flat, and stable surface.

An uneven appliance may:

  • Vibrate

  • Produce additional noise

  • Affect door alignment

  • Prevent the door from sealing correctly

Adjust the feet where fitted so that the cooler does not rock.

Normal Operating Noise

Some operating noise is normal in a thermoelectric wine cooler.

You may hear:

  • A steady fan sound

  • Gentle humming

  • Light vibration

  • Changes in sound as the cooling system starts or stops

The fan may run more frequently when:

  • The room is warm

  • Many bottles have been added

  • The door has been opened frequently

  • The appliance has recently been switched on

  • Ventilation is restricted

These sounds do not necessarily indicate a fault.

Unusual Noise

Check that:

  • The appliance is level.

  • It is not touching a wall or cupboard.

  • Bottles are not vibrating against each other.

  • Shelves are securely fitted.

  • The fan and ventilation openings are free from dust and debris.

Contact Customer Service if the cooler produces grinding, scraping, squealing, or unusually loud rattling sounds.

Test the Wine Cooler

After completing the checks:

  1. Confirm that the display is illuminated.

  2. Set the required temperature.

  3. Make sure the door closes securely.

  4. Ensure there is adequate ventilation.

  5. Keep the appliance away from heat sources.

  6. Leave it running with the door closed for several hours.

  7. Avoid adding further room-temperature bottles during the test.

If possible, place a suitable thermometer near the centre of the cabinet and allow sufficient time for the reading to stabilise.

When to Contact Support

Contact Subcold Customer Service if:

  • The display remains blank after the reset.

  • The appliance has no power.

  • The temperature controls do not respond.

  • The cooler does not begin cooling after several hours.

  • The internal temperature remains significantly above the selected setting.

  • The fan does not operate.

  • The appliance produces unusual or excessive noise.

  • The door does not close or seal correctly.

  • The problem continues despite adequate ventilation and a suitable room temperature.

When contacting support, please provide:

  • The wine cooler model

  • The serial or batch number

  • Your order number or proof of purchase

  • The selected temperature

  • The temperature shown on the display

  • The approximate room temperature

  • Whether the display is illuminated

  • Whether the fan is operating

  • Details of the ventilation space

  • A photograph or short video showing the issue

This information will help the support team determine whether the issue relates to the power supply, control panel, temperature setting, ambient conditions, ventilation, fan, door seal, or another component.
